The Membership Council is a outlet for SWE members to build community while gaining leadership experience and professional skills. Council members will present about SWE & UT resources to their peers monthly and collaboratively plan one event per semester. The resources presented will range from peer tutoring to becoming a research assistant, and will help to empower women in Cockrell to have the most academically, professionally, and socially enriching experience possible. The Council is an excellent way to build leadership, logistical, communication and collaborative skills while becoming closer with the SWE and Cockrell communities as a whole.
To learn more about the Membership Council, please contact the Vice President of Membership or the Resources Advisors.
The family system allows SWE members to become closer through smaller groups facilitated by family leaders. Each family earns points throughout the year for member attendance, and although competition can get tight, it’s a great way for members to discover SWE on a more personal level, while partaking in some friendly family competition. Aside from individual family hangouts, past family system events include the collaborative kick-off field day, trivia night, and family awards ceremony.

Recruitment allows SWE to bring new members into our community and to give a glimpse of who we are as an organization. We start off the recruitment season with some of our tried-and-true events, such as the Ice Cream Social, Intro to SWE, Resume Review and many more. We hope that you join us this upcoming fall to come see what SWE is all about!

Socials bring SWE members together to build bonds while just having fun! Socials are not only a great way to take a break from the pressures of classes and projects, but to feel more connected to other women in the engineering community. We truly have socials for everyone, with past events ranging from high-energy Bubble Soccer, outdoorsy Kayaking, and relaxed Movie Nights. With socials, we strive to help our members make some SWEet friends while enjoying themselves.
